
Updates this month at the Library
General Updates
The Library will close on January 5th and 6th in observance of Staff Furlough Days. Hours will resume as normal on Monday January 8th.
The Library will also close for the New Year, as well as the Tuesday after. Hours will resume as normal on Wednesday 3rd.

Junior Department-
New Displays in the YA Department:
Hobby month
Learn more about a current hobby, or find something new with this selection of materials. This display will be up until January 31st
Teen Driving Awareness Month
Stay educated and informed with this selection, ranging on how to stay safe on the road, and the keeping and care of your vehicle. This display will be up until January 31st
Staying Healthy Month
Learn new ways to get healthy (and stay healthy!) before the summer! This display will be up until January 31st.
New Displays in the Children Department:
Seasonal Display - Winter
Find your favorite winter read with these cute picture books. This display will be up all season long.
MLK Day
Learn more about the King who had a dream, with some information about the civil rights movement. This display will be up until January 31st
“I have a dream”
Share your dream for the future of our country, just like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.! This display/passive program will be up until January 31st
Braille Literacy Month
Learn about what it means to be blind and visually impaired, with materials to learn how to read Braille! This display will be up until December 31st
Write your name in Braille!
Learn how to write your name in Braille, and leave a positive note for the next patron who comes along! This display will be up until January 31st.
Book Blitz Month
Shop, share, propote, and more in this crazy month for books! Every visit to the library will earn you a free copy of your choice of select books to keep. This display will be up until January 31st.

Cafe and Craft: Evening Edition - Tuesday, January 17th
We’ll be making light jars with glass beads and fairy lights, while sipping coffee and tea. From 4-6 p.m. in the library auditorium. Free!
Unbanned Books/Community Night - Thursday, January 11th
Join us at the Livery, 190 Fifth St, Benton Harbor, from 5-8 p.m. for a celebration of free-thinking! Don’t miss this opportunity to learn the what and why of banned books, and stand up for our right to read.
Cafe and Craft: Daytime Edition - Wednesday, January 11th
We’ll be making light jars with glass beads and fairy lights, while sipping coffee and tea. From 12-3 p.m. in the library auditorium. Free!
D&D club - January 12th, 19th, & 26th
Join a group of adventurers as they travel the realm. Lead by a library staff DM. Held in the Reference Room, located on the first floor. Snacks will be served. Running from 5-8 PM
Silent Book Club - Tuesday, January 30th
No talking, just reading. Bring a book to read, and even your favorite blanket to snuggle in. Held in the Reference Room, located on the first floor. Coffee and tea will be served. Running from 4-6 p.m. Free!

“I have a dream” - All month long
Share with your library friends your dreams and hopes for the future you envision for our country.
STEAM Saturday - Saturday 27th
Participate in several STEAM-related activities and games, including a themed project, where you can have the chance of earning a take-home prize! Presented by the Sunrise Rotary Club of Benton Harbor. Thank you for the $2,500 grant! Running from 12-2 PM
Family Night with Krasl - January 10th
Have fun and make an amazing craft with the whole family. Held in the Auditorium. Running from 5-6:30PM.
Wake Up, Shake Up Storytime - Every Wednesday
11AM -12PM. Wednesday 17th will be a special MLK Day story hour in collaboration with LMC, where we will listen to two amazing Dr. King picture books, make a craft, and watch the “I Have a Dream” speech.
