Services

Getting a library card

Library cards are free to residents of Benton Harbor City and Benton Charter Township.

Current library card holders from many surrounding communities may apply for reciprocal but limited privileges at no charge. This is limited to physical materials. If reciprocal borrowers wish to access services such as Hoopla and Libby, you will have to do so from your home library.

To apply you will need:

  • Drivers license or state-issued photo ID
  • A second item with your name and current address, such as a piece of mail, voter registration card, or a bill (digital works, too!) Mail should be postmarked within 30 days.

For full access, out-of-service area patrons can apply for a pay card. Pay cards are $25 for six months and $50 for one year
